Canon Law Workshop - Summer 2008

The Athenaeum of Ohio will host a Canon Law workshop for pastoral ministers on Saturday, June 7th from 8:30 am – 1 pm in the Bartlett Pastoral Center.  This workshop will provide an introduction to Roman Catholic canon law and is geared toward persons engaged in parish ministry with little or no prior knowledge of canon law.  The workshop will focus on the general principles of canon law, church structure, finances, rights and obligations of the laity and canons related to sacraments.  The workshop will not include discussion on the canons of marriage.

Rev. Christopher Armstrong, former chancellor for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, will present the June 7th workshop.  Fr. Armstrong received his licentiate in sacred theology from the Gregorian University in Rome, a doctorate in sacred theology from the International Marian Research Institute and a doctorate in canon law from Catholic University.  He currently serves as pastor of St. Antoninus Church and teaches canon law at the Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary’s Seminary.
