Dick Donnenwirth is the Clinical/Training Director of the Professional Pastoral-Counseling Institute, Inc. of which he was the principal founder in 1983.  He has been in practice since 1958, is a Diplomate in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio.  He earned a BA in psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University, and an STB and MA in psychology and pastoral counseling from Boston University.

 

Flo DeWitt is a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio.  She earned a BA in theology from Georgetown University, an MDiv from Yale University, and an MA in pastoral counseling from The Athenaeum of Ohio.

 

Both are Lecturers in Pastoral Psychology at The Athenaeum of Ohio.

 

Program Overview

Objectives:

  • To review a variety of spiritual/faith paradigms applicable to counseling and psychotherapy.

  • To practice using these conceptual schemas with actual case material.

  • To articulate a personally congruent spiritual/faith language for one’s own counseling or psychotherapy practice.

 

Schedule:

1:00-1:15   Introductions and Overview

1:15-2:15   Review of diverse spiritual/faith assessment and conceptualiza-tion systems. (Brun’s “Axis VI schema; “Deadly Sins vs. Basic Gifts”; “Enneagram model of Root Sins vs. Gifts”; “Spiritual Strengths Diagnostic Assessment”)

2:15-3:00   Apply frameworks to case material (small groups)

3:00-3:15   Break

3:15-3:45   Discussion of application

3:45-4:15   Development of personal relevance to clinical practice.

Counselors/Social Workers/Marriage and Family Therapists

The State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board has approved this workshop as providing 3 hours of continuing professional education.  Approval # MCST090801.

 

Psychologists

The Ohio Psychological Association has approved The Athenaeum of Ohio as a provider of mandatory continuing education for Psychologists.  Provider #  310537076.  This workshop will be recognized as providing 3 hours of continuing professional education.
