Certificate in Lay Ministry Program (Non-degree)

 

Certificate courses are conducted at the undergraduate college level.  Many area colleges will award undergraduate equivalency credit for the completed Certificate in Ministry.  Completion fulfills the prerequisites for application to Permanent Diaconate Formation Program for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Basic Doctrine                                      Formation for Discipleship

Old Testament                                      New Testament

Pastoral Communication                    Church History

Jesus, the Christ of Faith                    Liturgy/Prayer

Christian Ethics                                    Social Justice

Elective: Tribunal Practice or
 Ecclesiology

 

Other requirements include mentoring, field education, theological reflection and the project in ministry.  Courses may also be applied to Archdiocesan certification or continuing education for catechists.  First year Certificate classes will meet on the main campus in Mount Washington and in Sidney, Ohio.  Second year certificate classes will meet at St. Dominic Church in Delhi.

 

It is possible to complete the Certificate in Ministry Option in two years.  .
