Pastoral Administration Program

The Athenaeum of Ohio is pleased to announce the introduction of its Pastoral Administration Program beginning in the fall 2006.  The Pastoral Administration Program is a graduate–level certificate program which enables lay and ordained participants to develop and enhance their skills in pastoral leadership and administrative ministry.  Through both academic work as well as formation, the Pastoral Administration Program prepares pastoral leaders for service in a changing church environment and fosters collaboration in pastoral ministry.

The Pastoral Administration Program includes both academics and formation.  Eighteen graduate credit hours prepares students for positions of administration and leadership in a pastoral setting.  Classes in the areas of worship/liturgy, catechesis/formation, human resources, financial management and leadership are required.  Yearly attendance at a day of reflection, participation in theological reflection and regular meetings with a spiritual director provide opportunities for spiritual growth.

The Pastoral Administration Program is designed for people who have completed both an undergraduate degree (or higher) and a ministry formation program.  Applicants must have significant pastoral experience, the ability to study at the graduate level and the potential and desire to grow as pastoral leaders.  Classes for the Pastoral Administration Program are offered evenings, Saturday mornings and during the day at the Athenaeum of Ohio main campus, 6616 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati. The program is being offered as a pilot program in Cincinnati with expansion of the program for greater accessibility to students in the northern areas of the archdiocese being planned.  Applications for the Pastoral Administration Program are currently being accepted.  For more information please call the Lay Pastoral Ministry Office at 513-231-1200.
